10:40 pm: Gold star for you all!
I’m so happy for you, America! Yesterday was so tense and bewildering. I couldn’t believe how many people around here had Obama/Biden badges and posters up. All day there was background chat on the election.

The one downside of the day had to of been a conversation I overheard between two guys that started out as “I’d rather there was a black male President than a white female”… Great, nice to know there’s still a purpose for feminism in this day and age. I truly hope one day that things like gender, race and religion won’t be a factor in these types of votes; it just sullies the whole thing.

Obama winning made me happy in lots of ways, mainly because I know now that come the next general election here when fucking David Cameron wins (no, I’m not a fan) there’ll be a nice country that will have a decent leader in charge.

This election has sort of brought to mind Labour’s 1997 landslide victory. Though I guess things can’t turn out as badly for Obama as they have done for Labour due to that great rule disallowing Obama a third term. Ya’d think dear old Maggie taught people that three terms was just too much. But then again, what do I know? I’m just an embittered Lib Dem, the likelihood of them ever getting into power is as slim as something very slim that had taken slimming pills and worn vertical stripes whilst standing in front of a mirror of slimness.

GO USA! … apart from those idiots planning to vote yes on Prop.8. Is it possible to swap them out with some lovely foreigners? Ideally myself, Alan Rickman, Ewan McGregor, John Barrowman and David Tennant. We could all live in a resort together… just throwing the idea out there.

11:59 pm: Awkward post of Awkwardness
Okay, so despite saying I’d never post here I am, thinking that now I’m, hums, coming out of the darkness of lurkerdom, there should be somewhere, some post, in which people can abuse me (I can hope) as I go on a friending spam.

Terminus… what is there to say? My heart goes out to all of you I met, every single one. Not to wax emoish, but the prior year hasn’t gone my way. And that’s all I want to say about it, no more time shall be wasted on it. What’s done is done, who’s gone is gone, there’s nothing to be done about it now. I feel the sort of contentment that’s eluded me for, eh, ages.

There was so much about the convention to be loved; I won’t repeat it since there are others who have already said it far, far better than I could ever hope to. Bad things about Terminus, one word really sums it up – Hilton. What wankfucks. They went from saying we still owed them over $300 (the bill had been fully paid on day 1, so this was a surprise), then they claimed it was $31… then just to conclude the interaction, they gave one of my roommates something like $400 0.o um, okay then!

AHH! This was my first visit to the States, I’m still in total and utter shock that I’ve been, and now I’m back in my little, sleepy Surrey village very much in disbelief. What did I think of the grand USA? Well I’ve never been to a foreign country where everyone speaks English, it really made me forget I was abroad. I was left reeling every time I spoke and realised “OH! British! Right”. Truly I loved it. I’m feeling though that the Chicago area is slightly more conservative then I’m used to.

I think that about sums it up. The shock is, phaw, huge. Hilton, in the words of many others = epic fail. Fandom love = epic. I wish I had had the courage last year at Sectus to say hello to people, to really mix, but perhaps now was just the right time? If nothing else the last year has started to remove my, arg, I hate to use the word but, shyness.

So one last time, thank you one and all. My apologies to anyone who had to see me dance, even without alcohol I dance like someone having a fit. Further apologies to anyone I poked with my wand.
